Meet the Committee

Cassie Silva is a Senior Manager at Deloitte and a registered Certified Public Accountant. She has over 12 years of experience serving both public and private clients primarily in the insurance industry. Cassie has worked with clients on numerous technical issues including accounting standard implementation, assumption setting, liability valuation, and reinsurance transactions. She has extensive technical accounting, auditing, advisory, and internal controls experience. Cassie also spends a portion of her time in Deloitte’s National Office, serving as an insurance subject matter expert leading consultations with insurance teams and developing auditing related insurance guidance for the firm.  In addition, Cassie has served as a member of Deloitte’s National Audit & Assurance Faculty for national trainings.  Cassie also leads the local Deloitte Academy program for Deloitte Des Moines which introduces and inspires high school students to envision their future in business through the possibilities of accounting. She is also a mentor for Deloitte’s STRIDE program which provides resource and accountability groups for young professionals working to pass their CPA exams.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Cassie worked as a middle school math teacher in Mississippi for two years as part of Teach For America. Cassie graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and earned her master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Texas-Austin. Cassie has a son (11) and daughter (2) which keep her very busy outside of work and other commitments.
